The cherry blossom beautifully stands with pliant branches hanging down.
This is a type of sakura called the “Shidare Sakura” (“shidare” meaning weeping). And is particularly famous for its pretty small flowers which bloom earlier than other kinds of sakura. This Sakura has a specific name “Konoe Sakura”. They are planted only in the ground, on the north side of the Imperial Palace where Konoe(the dominant noble) had been granted residence from the Emperor.
These sakura have been cared for by Konoe family for many generations. And as for this year, they will almost be in full blossom soon.
