“Hoko-tate” (means Float construction) begins. July 10
Kikusui-Hoko Float is under construction.
Since Hoko-float is quite tall as the top of the tower is about 25meters from ground, its basic frame are built being laid down horizontally.
You see the top of the float-tower designed as the flower of chrysanthemum at left side of the picture.
After assembling the basic structure, the Hoko-float is made to stand perpendicularly by pulling up with thick rope.
Till this stage, it is an one-day construction.
They do not use any nails in traditional technique at all. And they assemble it with only a straw rope and the technique of wooden framework.
Next day, the decorating stage and roof will be built on this structure, just like the float of the photo below.
