The cherry tree of Ninna-ji is very special.
It is famous for its late bloom, which is short and has large petals, and is called “Omuro Sakura”.
Originally it should be late, but this seems to be premature this year and now it is in full bloom. Somehow we will have it until the end of this week. Enjoy the slowest cherry blossoms in Kyoto.
The cherry blossom garden is not in the main hall, which was formerly the Imperial Palace, but in the back of the red gate in the precincts.
